Reporting to: Service Manager on a day to day basis.
Network Engineers provide technical support, advice, and assistance to clients. Engineers generally deal with end users and must effectively communicate answers in a way they can understand. Engineers are responsible to triage issues that have been escalated. Upon escalating or resolving an issue, engineers are expected to fully document an incident or service request. Network Engineers also will participate on project and proactive maintenance tasks for clients.
Responsibilities
- Execute technical support and project work tasks
- Provide technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security
- Communication with customers as required: Keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
- Provide necessary project, system and technical documentation</li
- Complete associate level technical certifications and other assigned trainings in a timely manner
- Complete system maintenance assessment and remediations
Independently schedule own time
- Accurately complete timesheet with appropriate detail as to work performed
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation (limited)
- Work with minimal supervision
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to customer environments
- Liaise with other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Travel to customer locations as needed for project and support work
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with the following technologies:
- Firewalls, Switches, WAPs & Routers
- Excellent troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively to peers and clients
- Advanced diagnostic skills of network technical issues
- Positive and professional demeanor
- Excellent customer service skills and a friendly can-do attitude
- Robust understanding of networking
- Aptitude to learn new technology
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred

- A few years of related experience, working with clients in Managed Services or IT Services industry
- Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies a plus
- Service awareness of all client’s key IT services for which support is being provided
- Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT
services
- Establish the ability to take initiative independent of direct supervision
